In high school, she studied and lived in a convent.
Then she studied at the University of the
Philippines in Diliman from College to Graduate School. After graduate school, she worked as a biblical researcher, writing biblical
interpretative short
stories for supplementary educational magazines for five
years. She quit bible research/writing work, which she believed was giving her an overdose of saintliness to
work as an investigative- reporter-cum- features writer for a national newspaper. Her exposure to the subculture in the
newspaper world had influenced her and transformed her
significantly. She had evolved extensively since then towards
full maturity She has learned
many lessons from living a
life which was far from being comfortable. Now, her life has changed a lot
in the many years of maturity and understanding. It is entirely
different from her convent internship
life in high school.
But she has no regrets. Only a wealth
of experience that she’d love to share with others, especially friends and
colleagues.
She is the high
integrity type, very principled. She
never borrows money, has no debt other than her
monthly credit card bills, and has been a good role model all her life. She
dislikes negativity, complainers, and
her outlook is always up. She seeks to find the goodness in everyone, never harping on anyone’s bad traits,
rather seeing the good in every human being, even forgiving people who perhaps shouldn't be forgiven. She often gives way to common sense in an effort to merge and understand;
She wants to be happy, in the simplest way. She is
a unique (one of a kind) human being, having been told such many times by many people that she has come in contact with.
The
things that make her happiest are giving and having it really appreciated. She is
such a generous person, restricted only by
her very limited capacity to give. There is nothing that makes her happier than
when she can give, or make, or do something that she knows another will really appreciate.
Her ideal day is one when she has accomplished something good. She works really hard – for others
and herself. And when she finds something that she knows will make someone else happy, that makes her happy, too.
Her actions and reactions depend much on the situation and circumstances.
But she normally creates the circumstances to which
other people react. Happy or sad, she is even-tempered. She is deeply respectful of the psychological and physical space required by other people. She expects the same from them, too. She can also be passionate, playful
and tremendously excited about new things and events, such as knowing other exciting personalities.
As far as she is concerned, the foundation
of any good relationship, whether
friendship or romantic intimacy, is mutual trust. It can’t be a one-sided trust. She is
also very appreciative and forgiving. Humans err. A
few unintentional mistakes, a few minor transgressions
are still pardonable for the
sake of all concerned.
She is very health
conscious now and tries to eat right, and live right. She is far from being boring because she can always come up with some exciting ideas that are plausible and implementable and she tries them out most of the time.
She believe that one should try to experience everything at least once
in her life in order to have lived to one's maximum potential.
Her tastes are simple. She enjoys music -- live concerts and CDs – with interests including pop,
classical, and jazz. Reading
is also a favorite pastime, particularly biographies and literature. She also enjoys movies and videos, especially science-fiction films, romantic comedies, and foreign films that bring the viewer
into a new setting.
She likes fruits,
coffee, tea, Chinese and Spanish
food, pizzas, sunshine, new age music, jazz, metaphysics, archeology, anthropology, spirituality, intellectual conversations, romance, emotions, cool colors,
sunsets, nice beach, rainbows, cold weather, Egyptians pyramids, and Maya civilization, Babylon....Stonehenge...
and most of all democratic
freedom (!)
Her hobbies and skills include:
cooking, (She loves to invent recipes that her
relatives and friends copy) listening to music,
playing the guitar, aerobics dancing and reading.
She abhors terrorism, homicidal
bombings, any form of verbal
or physical abuse and violence. She is for peace and
global democratic freedom. And there’s one more maddening thing next to terrorism .
Here in these small islands
in the equator, the typhoon belt of the world, there is rampant, frenzied, seemingly untamable illegal logging
in the last remaining virgin
forest in the country, the Sierra Madre. Here, a few scrupulous people
are uncontrollably cutting
off the trees with their huge, powerful saws,
to sell the timber to
scrupulous businessmen, and leveling off the mountains
to build new communes of new loggers for the logging company
(usually close relatives and acquaintances
who have the same purpose -- making a profit
by selling lumber. An aerial
view of the mountains show
large patches of denuded sections of mountain tops, various ongoing constructions of
housing communities, etc. The forests are disappearing to
give way to the so-called
developmental projects
that ignores the harmful environmental
consequences. The Philippines
has only three (3%) forest cover left.
Deforestation
– why is it so difficult to explain to the
forest folks that their logging
activities in the forests lead to flash floods, the submerging of smaller islands,
and global warming, and the melting of ice caps in the polar
regions, and ozone depletion, the
drying up of rivers, lakes and
watersheds that feed urban water dams.
Environmental work is
everybody’s concern.
